The Washington DC Charity Banjo is entirely one-of-a-kind, made with a deep black neck bearing the region of Washington DC on the peghead. With pearloid inlays of marbled white set into the Midnight Maple fingerboard, in combination with a bright red stained resonator, this banjo pays respect to red & white flag of Washington DC.
The drum head of the banjo is personally signed by Mumford & Sons with a personal message from the band.
Based on the Deering Artisan Goodtime Two this banjo has a resonator back for projection, and a violin grade maple rim that gives it a bright and clear tone. Designed and built by Deering Banjos at their factory in Spring Valley, California specifically for this auction.
The stunning Artisan Goodtime banjos embody Greg Deering’s lifelong vision for the Deering Banjo Company – to make the best sounding, playing, looking, and best value U.S.A. made banjo that he possibly could. It is a never-ending quest that Deering pursues every single day.
The Charity this auction will benefit is DC Central Kitchen. who is a nationally recognized "community kitchen" that recycles food from around Washington DC and uses it as a tool to train unemployed adults to develop work skills while providing thousands of meals for local service agencies in the process. DC Central Kitchen’s mission is to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities. They do this by training jobless adults for culinary careers and then hiring dozens of their own graduates to prepare the 3 million meals they provide for homeless shelters, schools, and nonprofits each year. Their work also prevents the waste of millions of pounds of nutritious food.

Introducing the new Goodtime Deco Series, a stunning tribute to the vibrant American Art Deco design movement of the 1920s when the banjo reigned as America's most beloved instrument.
Learning how to play the banjo is no different. There are different types of banjos and plenty of new terminology for parts of banjos and playing styles. Aspiring players also wonder what makes one banjo better than another.
Watch and listen to Deering artists play our banjos and choose your favorite tone!
All of our banjos are made by passionate banjo craftsmen and women in our Spring Valley, California shop.
