Tray was one of the workshop instructors at the recent Grass Valley Fathers’ Day Festival. All of us who attended that workshop were amazed at his banjo skills, and we were very pleased by his willingness to help us learn. He’s a very nice fellow, and he interacts with people in a friendly, professional manner. Thus, I want to object to the comment left previously by another person. The purpose of these Deering sessions is to help us learn about the banjo and techniques for playing it. I think it’s inappropriate to harshly criticize a performer’s personal speech mannerisms just because he speaks differently than you, especially when you’ve never met him and don’t really know him. I would gladly interact with Tray anytime I had the opportunity.

His music is good, he is very skilled. Many people use filler words to think while talking. With all the extra notes we pay on our banjos it shouldn’t be an issue for us. His credibility is in his music which was beyond anything I, or most people will ever achieve. I appreciate the session. Thanks.

please make Tray listen to himself and count the number of times he says ‘like’. He limits his credability when he talks like an idiot.

the audio is really messed up. Each speaker seems to be repeating each sentence.
