His latest project, released this past February, expands and explores George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue by paying homage to the legendary composer while redefining an American classic—just in time for its centennial.
Join us as we discuss Bela's artistic process, compositional approaches, his new recording Rhapsody In Blue, and more. This is bound to be an extremely insightful and fun episode! Mark your calendars!

Listen to Bela's version of Rhapsody In Blue with a full orchestra below!
Remarkable. Substituting the 5string banjo for the piano part. Amazing!
When Ferdi Groefe (sp?) orchestrated Rapsody in Blue for a symphony orchestra in the 1920s he included a part for the tenor banjo. Occasionally even today when you see it played there will be a tenor banjo in the orchestra. I played it a couple of times on the tenor banjo with the local philharmonic orchestra. Chords and single string. The banjo gives the piece a little lift.
Brilliant beyond any banjo playing I’ve Ever heard!!
Bella Fleck’s creative music takes one to another dimension of listening pleasure ! His interpretation of this classical musical piece displays his genius for all to hear and enjoy!
Just beautiful, and so creative.
