I like this item however I always find myself being careful about ensuring that the banjo does not get pushed off the end. I think it should be 4 or so inches longer to accommodate the entire pot to end of the headpiece while manipulating it. Currently overall instrument length of a Golden Era is 38 inches. This mat beats the bath towel I have been using. The mat holds my banjo and prevents it from sliding or spinning while I am working on it. And I couldn't beat the price from Deering. I looked at other music stores and this was by far the best price for a quality product.

Mat is a good size and shape. It does not let the banjo slide around while you work on it and protects the finish from scratches. It would be good for other instruments also.
