It is a great little thing, only caution is you need to adjust it to work and be cautious installing it and removing it as you can move your bridge.

t rooms---and my playing has yet to disturb any of them! I'll add a slight disclaimer that I play clawhammer on an open-back banjo, so your result may differ with a resonator and such.

A: If you have one of our newer D-12 banjos with the thinner bridge, you should have no problem using the mute. It merely slips under the strings and around the bridge. In the past, our bridges for the 6-string banjos were thicker. If you have one of those, this mute may not be able to fit around it. Thanks for asking.

A: It slips around the bridge and under the strings. The picture on the website is accurate. Just put the bridge between the two "fingers of the mute and slide it around the bridge/under the strings.

Q: Are pre-06 tone rings and 06 tone rings interchangeable? Would there be any noticeable sound advantage in doing so on a Maple Blossom

A: No...the rims are cut differently. The new rim will make your banjo sound fuller.

Q: To install the the mute do you have to loosen the strings and then tune them and then do the same in reverse when you remove the mute?

A: No, you just slip it UNDER the strings and around the bridge. :-) No detuning needed.
