Much better Intonation
Review by Gary F. on 12 Feb 2025 review stating Much better Intonation
I can't stand it when the intonation is out on an instrument. Pretty much no instrument has Perfect intonation, but this certainly get's better than a non-compensated bridge and saddle!

Exactly what I had hoped for when it comes to subtle improvements to intonation, especially on the third string.

Great Customer Service
Review by Austin L. on 17 Aug 2024 review stating Great Customer Service
The first bridge I ordered was received broken in a cushioned envelope- which is not a critique, as it seemed very reasonable for the piece. I didn’t fault Deering for it being broken but emailed them to ask for a replacement and within the hour received a notice my replacement had been shipped. It came in a bigger box with extra bubble wrap this ...Read MoreRead more about The first bridge I ordered was
time- all free of charge. The bridge is a very good piece and a nice upgrade for my non-Deering banjo. However, after my experience I can say with confidence my next will be a Deering. Read LessRead less about The first bridge I ordered was

Bridge change
Review by Daryl R. on 27 Apr 2024 review stating Bridge change
There was a buzzing of the strings so I changed the bridge and it is better, not perfect but better than it was. Thanks.

Not what I expected
Review by David P. on 4 Feb 2024 review stating Not what I expected
I didn’t really see any difference with intonation between the compensated and non compensated nuts. I’m not unhappy with it, I’m just not anything with it. I could take it or leave it.

Bridge
Review by Michael P. on 4 Feb 2021 review stating Bridge
Took all the intonation problems away . When playing in the mid to upper registers I also used open strings. To make them in tune it required fudging the 2 internal strings. This new bridge cleaned that up completely.

Helped with 3rd string tuning
Review by Richard S. on 22 Aug 2020 review stating Helped with 3rd string tuning
I wanted to replace the head and bridge anyway and thought I'd try the compensated bridge. Although the compensated bridge looks a little rough, it did the trick and helped out with tuning.

Nice addition
Review by Jeremy T. on 7 Jun 2020 review stating Nice addition
Didn't really notice any intonation problems before using this bridge. Mainly because I am a beginner. But it did cure some buzzing I was getting.

The finish on the bridge was rough with splinters hanging off of it. It works, but looked rough.

Compensated banjo bridge
Review by David A. on 12 Jan 2020 review stating Compensated banjo bridge
This bridge worked well on my Goodtime 2 to practically eliminate the out of tune problems with the third string. The sound is a bit brighter, too, but that could also be the new strings I put on.

Paid for the name
Review by George R. on 17 Sep 2018 review stating Paid for the name
The bridge works fine. However, they are way overpriced. StewMac sells them about 70% cheaper. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how overpriced it was till later. I'll recommend compensated bridge, but not this one.

New bridge
Review by Billy O. on 23 Jan 2018 review stating New bridge
I recently put on a compensated bridge on my Deering Deluxe banjo. What a difference it made! I love the tone and my 3rd string sounds really good all the way up the neck.

Compensated banjo bridge
Review by Rod M. on 19 Sep 2017 review stating Compensated banjo bridge
I have just fitted this bridge to my Goodtime Parlour banjo, and it appears to work quite well in reducing the distortion which has been a problem on the 3rd string in particular. I will experiment further with different strings and tunings.

Q: A friend of mine gave me a new, never-used compensated banjo bridge which he had purchased from Deering. Great "gift" as I have been encountering tuning/intonation "problems" with my openback. What he and I can't agree upon is which way this bridge is supposed to be mounted on the banjo since there are no markings on the bridge at all. For reference purposes, does the 3rd string part that has the "slant" face towards the tailpiece or the neck. I think that this part should face the tailpiece while my buddy says the opposite.

A: Our compensated bridge looks like a little staircase. There is one point in the middle that is the furthest out/the top of the staircase. THAT point needs to be closest to the tailpiece so that your middle G string is furthest away from the nut. Does this help?

A: If you have a compensated bridge that looks like a little staircase, the notch for the middle G string is closest to the tailpiece.
