On this episode of Deering Live we will dig into the life and music of 5-string bluegrass banjoist Rudy Lyle. Rudy Lyle played banjo with Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys and made major contributions to bluegrass banjo but has largely been forgotten. Banjoist and member of Peter Rowan's Bluegrass Band, Max Wareham decided to help change this and wrote a book that talks about Rudy's career and banjo style and includes easy to read banjo tab of Rudy's playing.
I’m both jealous and super happy to hear about Max’s banjo pilgrimage, wow what a tour de banjo. At least there are banjo camps for the rest of us. ;) Thanks to Dave and Deering for bringing us close to all these interesting players.
Thank you for this video. I have purchased the book on Rudy Lyle – look forward to reading Mr. Wareham’s interpretation.
I have always been a fan of Jens Kruger and enjoy these productions. David and Jamie always present awesome productions and it is very refreshing to see Deering offer this platform. To Mr. and Mrs. Deering – Thank you for your investment into this project. I support Deering Banjos – I own both a Goodtime and a Sierra, although I tend to play the Goodtime more often – great for those jamming moments.
